Breedera looks back on 2023

For Breedera, 2023 has been jam-packed full of new beginnings and excitement. From launching our new dog breeding app in February and heading to Crufts with Purina, to releasing new features and winning an award this autumn.  

Here’s a roundup of what we got up to this year:  

New dog breeding app launch

Of course, the biggest thing to happen in 2023 was launching Breedera!  

Those of you who have been around for a while will know we were previously known as PuppyFat.  

But, our humble weight tracking app for puppies got a makeover and evolved into a fully-fledged dog breeding app – Breedera. 

We have one mission to relief breeders of admin overwhelm.  

The new app was rebuilt from the ground up after two years of collaborating with breeders from around the world. 

After hundreds of conversations and focus groups within the dog breeding community, we created an app that gives you peace of mind that all essential breeding records, health history and buyer information are in one easy-to-access place.  

Breedera attended Crufts 2023 with PURINA®  

In March 2023, we attended the greatest dog show in the world – AKA Crufts!  

We were thrilled to partner with PURINA® Breeder Connect and have a space in their Breeder Lounge at Crufts.  

Purina has been a huge supporter of Breedera in the last few years and we’re also involved with their business Accelerator and Incubator programme, UNLEASHED.  

And, we’re there again for Crufts 2024. More details to be announced soon. 😉  

Weight tracking is free in Breedera.  

In summer, we decided to add dog and puppy weight tracking to our Free plan.  

We know that tracking litter growth and sharing puppy weight charts is an exciting and essential part of being a responsible breeder.  

And it didn’t feel right that weight tracking was a paid-for feature in our app.  

So, after making some improvements to the weight tracking charts and functionality, we made tracking weights in Breedera FREE. 

New pre-whelp temperature drop tool.  

A new feature was added to our dog temperature charts – a marker for the pre-whelp temperature drop.  

Breeders can visually see their dam’s pre-whelp temperature drop – a key sign that she’s nearing her time to deliver her litter.   

All your temperature records can be accessed inside your dam’s pregnancy record, so you can easily compare temperatures between each pregnancy!  

Further network improvements.  

Much of our time this summer was spent on improvements to our network.  

It’s all a bit techy, but basically, our developers have made it easier to use the app when your signal is a bit low.  

So, you can access your dog records when you’re on the go, walking the dogs or at a show!  

Exceptional Pet and Animal Technology award. 

Breedera was honoured with the Exceptional Pet and Animal Technology award at this year’s Pet and Animal Care Awards. This recognition comes as a testament to our team’s commitment to enhancing the world of responsible breeding.  

Breedera was also recognised as a finalist in the Outstanding Pet Care App category, an accolade that went to VETPASS.   

What’s new for Breedera in 2024?  

Our main aim – as it’s always been – is to continue relieving admin overwhelm for our breeders.  

So, this means lots of improvements to the app and exciting new feature releases based on the wants and needs of our breeding community.
